One of the statistics that jumped out at me from the analysis of the 2103 Dublin registered cars in the sample was the number of them which would be too old to pass the new 9 year rule next year : 967 …representing 45% of the fleet!
This is in contrast to the regulators assertion that only 25% of the fleet are effected (still a terrible amount) or is it a reflection on the extremely poor quality of the rental fleet and a confirmation of the assertions by many Taxi driver commentators that this was the case?

I was talking to a few guys here who have 02 cars and who will have to change them during next summer. They are spotless. What a waste. If the IMF take over bang goes our business "not that its much good at the moment anyway "because with all the cuts that will be imposed taxis will really be a luxury that nobody can afford. People are going to stay at home get the cheap cans in the offy and both the pubs and the taxis are going to suffer big time. Its stupid what she is doing and she should not be allowed to get away with it. I cannot understand how some of the politicians who are involved in the transport committee cannot see and tell her to rescind this new rule until we can get back on our feet and have some semblance of a business!
