What is it with spammers, what do they gain from sending all that crap out? My spam guard is on but im still getting emails through trying to sell viagra and visa applications. Im never going to buy anything they send me so whats the point of them bothering?
How can i get rid of it without having to close my account. again! im being over run with it.
I block the domain names which slows it down a little. Problem is, I only have about 70 more I can block! It's a shame that you have to block an address or domain - being able to block letter strings would be much more useful!

If you are getting a lot of messages with the same 'viagra' word, you can add a rule in your e-mail client that will block all messages containing this rule.
You can filter spam messages from yahoo mail by going into 'options' and choosing 'filters' at the left bar. Then clicking "Create or edit filters" and choose your criteria.
If you are using an e-mail client, such as outlook, outlook express and the like, here is an example of how to do this:

About your second question, spammers send mail because it is a cost-free way to advertize their product. If the spammers continue sending mails, it is a sign that it is also worthwhile.

go to 'mail options' in the yahoo mail page and under the spam option select delete spam mais-immidately

-- a mass e-mail that doesn't mention you by name? That's what was in my inbox this morning along with the usual Viagra and Nigerian Lottery e-mails. Krystka returned to Poland on Monday morning on a visa matter.
Her e-mail starts, "Hey Y'All!" and mentions how she just returned from Florida where she stayed with "a nice family and wonderful kids though the pay sucked." (She was our au pair, until my divorce). She mentioned how she earned 12 credits in (junior) college (I paid) and won several meets for the swim team. She does mention the Prada bags, "rad new laptop" and diamond studs I'd bought her, but doesn't give me credit, just saying that those were "some tokens of her visit." She ends the missive bashing Bush and "lazy Americans," and how fat "most" people are here.
Our relationship was hot and heavy, but her e-mail list has 60 names on it and lots of ".pl" addresses, many of whom could be in favor of her settling down in Poland with a local fireman. How should I respond?
She was using you, Reality, right up to the end. You were her "sugar daddy" as well as her naughty American sexcapade. She probably took delight in her part coming between you and your wife. She manipulated you better than your wife could ever dream of. If she wanted to contact you, she would have by now. I think she has already put you in her past. I don't even know that you should respond, but if it makes you feel better or brings you some closure, then go ahead. Just think carefully about what you want to say.
